On April 11, the U30 young hop growers from Tettnang gathered at the hop trial field in Straß to take an in-depth look at the topic of “hop pruning”. The event began with an informative theoretical part in which the participants were given a detailed explanation of important factors and external influences that need to be taken into account when pruning.
This was followed by a descriptive presentation of the various cutting devices, in which their special features and modes of operation were introduced. The highlight of the training course was the practical demonstration of the equipment, during which the young hop growers were able to see live how the theory was put into practice and then examine the results.
The participants were extremely eager to learn and asked numerous questions, which further enriched the exchange and learning. Everyone had the opportunity to clarify further questions and exchange experiences about hop cutting during a cozy finale at the experimental farm.
A big thank you to everyone involved for this informative event!
